Overview

WHEREABOUTS is a Japanese menswear brand. Designer Hideki Fukuzono launched the brand in 2004, and it debuted at the 2004 A/W Tokyo Collection. Based on the concept “Everyday × GORGEOUS,” it developed tailoring-focused menswear centered on an image of men combining a somewhat unpolished quality with elegance. It operated directly managed stores in Shibuya, Omotesando, and Minami-Aoyama, and was also available at venues such as Toyo Kitchen & Living.

WHEREABOUTS debuted in Fall/Winter 2004 as a separate brand line produced by GDC. Its full collection was carried on the first floor of WANDERLUST, a select shop operated by GDC. It was presented under an independent name that did not include GDC, and at the time its product range, including tailored jackets, was distributed mainly in-store. It can be positioned as an example of a derivative brand launch that leveraged GDC’s directly operated retail channels.
