Overview

TALKING ABOUT THE ABSTRACTION (TATA) is a collection brand that began in Osaka in 2001. Designed by Naoki Ichihara, Tadanao Yamashita, and Shingo Otsuka, the brand assumes that old objects and cultures, as well as modern objects and technologies, all hold equal value, and adjusts and combines their proportions. Based on the concept of everyday wear for a gender-inclusive minority with new values, it proposes designs that incorporate elements of transfer printing and remake while avoiding fixed ideas about casual, mode, and trends.

A menswear label launched as part of SEVENDAYS=SUNDAY’s fifth-anniversary initiative. Its products were developed around a theme for each season; the first collection reworked 1950s vintage elements for a contemporary audience through adjustments to texture, details, and silhouette. While R&P specialized in pants, Talk about... was positioned as a vintage-inspired, concept-driven line responsible for the men's aesthetic and worldview. Its operations ended with the business closure at the end of October 2020.
