Overview

THENEWCOMMUNE is a subtheme and offshoot line of FAF (FAKE ASS FLOWERS), a Tokyo-based unisex brand. FAF was founded by Kazuho Arai and Tsukasa Takabayashi, with Arai responsible for design and Takabayashi for direction. THENEWCOMMUNE signifies an “escape” to an ideal world that carries forward the DNA of the communes formed during the late-1960s flower movement. The name has been used for the Fall/Winter 2021 collection, as well as for apparel, accessories, and graphics. No founding year as an independent brand has been confirmed; it is treated as a name belonging to FAF.
