Overview

AVOCA is a lifestyle brand originating from a cooperative weaving mill established in 1723 in the village of Avoca, County Wicklow, Ireland. Donald Pratt and Hilary Pratt revived the business in 1974, and in 1985 their daughter, Amanda Pratt, launched a fashion label. Today, with traditional handwoven wool textiles at its core, the brand offers womenswear, menswear, scarves, homeware, food, and cafés. It places importance on color, craft, and humor, and upholds “Create joy and have fun” as its philosophy.

Hope and Thimble was an early clothing line launched by Amanda Pratt for Avoca. Unlike Avoca’s traditional woolens and products for its stores, it aimed to expand into markets such as the UK as a designer-led fashion collection. The line itself was later discontinued, but as an independent Avoca-associated fashion line designed by Amanda, it is positioned as a precursor to the later Avoca Anthology.

Avoca Anthology was a leading women's fashion line that emerged from Avoca's design studio. Created by Amanda Pratt, it focused on clothing with a stronger fashion and decorative sensibility, drawing on Avoca's traditional textiles and colors. Unlike Avoca Origin, which favored classic styles, and Avoca Nest, which dealt in homewear, it was developed as a main line that expanded Avoca's apparel business internationally.

Avoca Origin was a classic-oriented womenswear line launched by Avoca around 2009. In contrast to the more decorative and fashion-forward Avoca Anthology, it was conceived as a complementary line that carried forward Avoca’s traditional material feel and focus on everyday wearability. Within Avoca’s apparel business, it had a distinct role alongside Anthology and was positioned like a second line for those seeking a classic wardrobe.

The Mill was developed as a new label to reorganize a range of products originating from the textile mill in County Wicklow, where Avoca began. Unlike fashion lines such as Avoca Anthology, it focused on traditional products rooted in the mill’s expertise, including weaving, wool textiles, blankets, and scarves. It is positioned as a derivative line that supports the brand’s craft foundation and is also connected to the current Avoca Mill Collection.
